Brief background

Same-sex marriage (also known as gay marriage or gender-neutral marriage) is a marriage between two persons with the same sex or gender. Legal recognition of same-sex marriage or the possibility to perform a same-sex marriage happened when the US Supreme court issued an order with one paragraph as;

"No union is more profound than marriage, for it embodies the highest ideals of love, fidelity, devotion, sacrifice, and family. Informing a marital union, two people become something greater than once they were. As some of the petitioners in these cases demonstrate, marriage embodies a love that may endure even past death. It would misunderstand these men and women to say they disrespect the idea of marriage. Their plea is that they do respect it, respect it so deeply that they seek to find its fulfillment for themselves. Their hope is not to be condemned to live in loneliness, excluded from one of civilization’s oldest institutions. They ask for equal dignity in the eyes of the law."

Supporters of same-sex marriage (referred as LGBT, Lesbians, gays, bisexuals, and transgender) vehemently argued that same-sex marriage is somehow a form of equality which conforms to marriage equality or equal marriage. They argued that this is somewhat as modern redefining of traditional marriage.

On the other hand, opponents or against with the said law used biblical accounts to divert the said controversial decision. They used Leviticus 18:20-30 New King James Version (NKJV), 22 You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination. 23 Nor shall you mate with any animal, to defile yourself with it. Nor shall any woman stand before an animal to mate with it. It is perversion. (https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Leviticus+18%3A20-30&version=NKJV).

LGBT in the Philippines argued that the Philippines should be the next country to legalize the said law. Many of Filipino Netizens used rainbow colour on their profile picture as a sign of support to the US Supreme Court decision.

United States of America was the twenty first country to legalize the same-sex marriage but it is the most popular.

Author’s perspective

I don’t have any problems on same-sex marriage. It doesn’t affect me in any way, I’m not saying that being gay or lesbians is right, and I didn’t said that its wrong either. My perspective on this issue more on correct word/terminology. Marriage is very sacred which god taught us. God taught us that marriage is for man and for woman.
