The Science of Forever
The Science of
Forever

San
Juan City, Philippines - Does forever really exist? Many of us could say no,
but some would say yes. To begin with, let me present first to you the
different perspective of forever. Wikipedia give us a meaning of forever as Eternity,
a limitless amount of time. A good friend of mine defined forever as something
to deal with God or associated with life after death. (Salumbides 2014).
Forever is something that is subjective (Atezora 2014). Freedictionary.com
definition is at all times; incessantly. With this definition, forever is something
associated with timeless, limitless and for an infinite period of time. But, if
such forever is definable, does it mean it really exist? And if so, where does it exist? For 21st
century generation the word forever is linked to an intimate relationship. It is
when a couple is daydreaming that their relationship will last to forever.
American Director Woody Allen said “I don't want to achieve immortality through
my work. I want to achieve it by not dying” (science.howstuffworks.com). In this
perspective, he only relate forever as to immortality. But we all know that
human can only live in a period of time. The idea of living forever might seem
like one that's limited to fairy tales, particularly if you were born in 1800,
when the average life expectancy was 35 years [source: Sieberg]. Some
researchers believe that there's a limit on how many years a human being could
live. As well has when this human tends to be in love, they’re love is for a
portion of their lives only and will not continue if one or the other dies. Therefore
forever in love does not exist.
Forever in some context.
Forever
is more often associated with love, but does forever is for love only? Let us
search forever in a wider perspective. Forever as for the eye of religion is
something to do with life after death, or for the forthcoming of Christ to save
the humanity. As a Catholic devotee since birth, my perspective in forever in a
religion matter is when humans die and when he/she did good deeds when he/she
still alive, the God will grant them an eternal life. But most Christians would
be astonished and perplexed to find out that the Bible NEVER ONCE talks about
"eternal" life, or ANYTHING happening
“forever” or “forever and ever”. In fact, the words eternal,
everlasting, and forever NEVER appear in the New Testament. They are mistranslations
of the Greek word “eon”. But before anyone gets too upset, there IS information
in the Bible that speaks of what we understand as "eternal" life, but
that word is not used. What the Bible says is that those living at the end of
the eons will never die, because death will be abolished. ("The last enemy
that will be abolished is -- death!" See 1 Cor 15:22-28.) The
mistranslation of the word "eon" as everlasting, eternal, forever,
and even "world", in the King James Version and nearly ALL
translations of the Bible, leads to confusion and even sometimes to false
doctrine. Some of the Bible translations have corrected some of the confusion
by correctly translating the word "eon" as "age" which is
much more accurate. But they don't do it in every instance. (goodnewsaboutgod.com).
Therefore I am confused. (smiling). My understanding is that the word forever
in Bible does not exist but the idea of forever exist. As eternal life of
anything or something that is associated with it.
